RadWindow with implicit styles as main Window in WPF application

by Joerg Lang | Jul 02, 2014
Today I spent too much time with an issue that is not really documented. After having created my WPF application and changed the main window to be of the type RadWindow, my application would start, but no window was showing.

Strange..., because the application icon showed up in the taskbar.

The problem lies with the implicit styles "mode" that seems to be the new default mode for applying a theme. It seems, that the main Window doesn't get this style set automatically, even though in the designer it works as expected.

The solution to the problem is simple. Add the following property to your XAML code of your RadWindow

 Style="{DynamicResource RadWindowStyle}

After you added this line, the window will show up correctly.

  1. RadEditor - HTML WYSIWYG Editor. MS Word-like content editing experience thanks to a rich set of formatting tools, dropdowns, dialogs, system modules and built-in spell-check.
    RadEditor's components - toolbar, content area, modes and modules
    Toolbar's wrapper
    Content area wrapper
    RadEditor's bottom area: Design, Html and Preview modes, Statistics module and resize handle.
    It contains RadEditor's Modes/views (HTML, Design and Preview), Statistics and Resizer
    Editor Mode buttonsStatistics moduleEditor resizer
    RadEditor's Modules - special tools used to provide extra information such as Tag Inspector, Real Time HTML Viewer, Tag Properties and other.
